Speeding

Police should be public servants, Peace Keepers, law enforcers, the restorers of good order, and protectors of those who are compliant. I will not argue that speeding is against the law. I will however, argue that if I have been completely compliant with each and every request, that it is unfair of a Police Officer to retain me for over 20 minutes, at night, on the highway alone. Continuously, tapping the county police patch on your shoulder, waving your hand and insisting that this authority empowers you to enforce each and every mandate within the commonwealth. Whose, liberty did I steal, to what degree have I personally attacked or offended you; that you feel angered enough to use intimidating gestures and imperfect legal rhetoric against me. I am a common citizen, not a drug dealer, thief, or degenerate. I too serve the country daily with military service for over 20 years, I participate in my community’s development, pay my share of tax, believe in the application of fair law enforcement. Never once in my career have I imposed a form of intimidation, not presented to me; toward a subordinate, fellow Officer or Soldier. Nothing about the rank on my chest gives me a free pass to disrespect another person so vehemently as you did to me. What about being an Officer of the peace have you forgotten today?
