Please understand Maurice Slaughter was NOT the first African-American dealer. I think this is often said because he is probably the most prominent of the present day African-American dealers...In fact, it was William "Wild Bill" Johnson, racing legened and owner of Johnson's Harley Davidson, in New York state during the 1920's long before Mr. Slaughter was even thought of. This is no shot at Mr. Slaughter, just a point of historical clarification. I do find issue with the fact the person identifying themself as Bayside's marketing director unfortunately is publicly misinforming folks of with a historical inaccuracy.
